Simon – you make some very good points.
BUT – out of the 12, 13 or even 14 playmates selected each year – Hef’s girlfriends have a much better chance of being selected.
The only reason Bridgette, Holly and Kendra weren’t selected as playmates was because Hef knew there would have been a lot of in-fighting amongst them when it came to PMOY awarding.
So he came to the conclusion not to select them as playmates.
IMO – all three would have been worthy playmates – in accordance with the standards Hef has set with the likes of Spencer Scott and the Shannon twins.

The thing about Hef’s girlfriends is that many end up in the magazine, whether as a PM or cover model or both.
Barbi is in a league of her own.
Carrie Leigh may have been crazy, but that 86 cover is one of my favorites.
Shannon Tweed became a PM before being Hef’s g/f and though she was my third choice for PMOY, Susan Smith and Kelly Tough were my top 2, I am ok with the choice.
His posse of 5-7 never did anything for me. Brande is one of the nicest PM, you will ever meet.
The Girls Next Door-the original three never did anything for me.
The current three, the twins are OK but nothing special, I have no idea who the third one is.

Carrie Leigh’s cover is one of my favorites. The only people who say she is crazy come from Playboy. Crazy like a fox Carrie Leigh’s NUDE Magazine has blown Playboy apart.
Oh yeah real crazy and one of the greatest photographers of today.
